Sustainability and values
We are committed to adhering to the principles of sustainable nature tourism and responsible choices in our operations. For us, responsibility means not only responsibility for the environment but also responsibility in everyday life and practices. Our operations are based on transparency and honesty. We aim to promote sustainable development and create positive impacts on both the environment and communities, offering our customers unforgettable nature experiences. Biodiversity is essential for human life and health. Nature conservation enhances biodiversity. We strive to minimize the burden on the environment in all our activities. Our customer promise is to provide sustainable services to all travelers, visitors, and partners equally.
Inclusivity and Cultural Sensitivity
We offer travel experiences that respect local traditions, culture, and customs. Our company adheres to ethical and moral principles in its operations, rejecting any form of commercial, sexual, or other exploitation or discrimination.
Responsible Procurement and Supply
When purchasing products and services, we prioritize local, environmentally friendly, and fair trade-compliant suppliers whenever possible and when the quality is high enough. We favor certified and eco-labeled products.
Our food offerings consist of traditional Finnish fare: vegetables, roots, berries, mushrooms, and whenever possible, local fish. In wine procurement, we prefer organically grown wines. Drinking and utility water come from our own well.
Accessibility
Accessibility means safety and acceptance of diversity. In our services, we ensure equal treatment regardless of background or personal limitations, relating to aspects such as vision, hearing, understanding, and communication. However, the Reindeer Park is located on a rocky forest plot and it is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. From the parking lot, there are wide boardwalks leading to the reindeer feeding terrace. At the end of the plank trail, on a rocky slope, there are a few steps and a railing. There are also a few steps on the feeding terrace.
Animal Welfare and Travelers
The well-being of the reindeer in our Reindeer Park is of utmost importance to us, and encounters always happen on the reindeer's terms.
We are not open daily, so the reindeer also have rest time away from meeting people. We also do not force reindeer to come close to people if they want to be left alone at that moment. However, our reindeer are very accustomed to people and come curiously to greet, especially if lichen is available. Our head reindeer keeper takes care of our reindeer's well-being together with their care team. A veterinarian visits twice a year and as needed at other times.
Our reindeer can only be encountered in their own enclosure at Nuuksio Reindeer Park. We do not rent out reindeer for any events as it would only cause unnecessary stress to them.
Legality
In our operations, we adhere to the laws and regulations of the Finnish tourism industry. Our company has comprehensive liability insurance.
Responsibility Certifications
Our company has been awarded the GOOD TRAVEL SEAL certificate as well as the Sustainable Travel Finland label as evidence of valuable and long-term work in promoting sustainable tourism.
